Abstract Bradford’s law is an important rule of thumb to quantitatively determine the degree of interdisciplinary connection and describe the number of distribution of related papers in journals. The empirical rule can still be applied to the distribution of network academic resources, but less research is linked to tag distribution in the social blog. Selecting the social tags in the MetaFilter music section from 2013 to 2016 as an analysis unit, this paper first described the distribution feature of the tag frequency and tag type, and solved the curve fitting equation of the tag frequency distribution. Second, the authors have used the integral function to obtain the boundaries of the high-frequency interval, intermediate frequency interval, and low-frequency interval, and then verified the consistency of the distribution of the tag category in each interval with Bradford's law. Finally, the stability of the tag interval distribution is further verified through the relatively balanced distribution of users and posts related to the tags in each interval and the comparative analysis under different semantic environments. This study can be used to determine and forecast the core nodes of social blogs.
