摘要期刊出版的数字化加速了学术交流过程,改变了学术交流模式。作为出版数字化的产物,usage数据为科学计量学的研究与应用提供了新的方向,已有研究探讨了使用数据预测、补充、代替引文评价指标的可能性。为进一步明确usage指标测度的实质及其用于科研评价的可行性和适用条件,本研究以LIS领域为例,采用Web of Science数据库提供的usage count和被引频次作为数据源,分析论文使用和被引的相关关系以及论文质量、文献类型及子学科对两者关系的调节作用。结果表明:①就科学传播而言,作为广义科学传播系统的产物——使用数据与引文数据间呈互补关系;将二者作为独立的单元来看,由于强相关性,其又呈可替代关系;②就科研评价而言,本文尚不能证实使用数据对引文指标的替代作用。
