Abstract Based on social network analysis, this study aims to construct a profile of user participants on social Q&A platforms, revealing users' social behavior toward a specific topic and providing advice for user classification and personalized service. This study uses the web crawler to obtain user social behavior data on the topic “Hypertension” on Quora and constructs users' different social networks. The characteristics are then revealed in terms of two aspects: user social network structure and user social type, from which the user profile is generated. The study shows that social network analysis can effectively mine, organize and represent the characteristics of users' social behavior. The user classification method based on the value distribution of node feature can realize users' segmentation. Moreover, the user profile can also help the platform managers to form a deeper understanding of the user social interaction and classification management. This research would become a reference for user profile generation of social Q&A platforms and provide a basis for applying user profiles of social Q&A platforms.
